Great news for dog lovers! The Buckler’s Hard Museum has opened its doors to your four-legged family members, making it a destination for everyone.
Dogs are welcome to join their humans, on a lead, as they explore the historic village and its fascinating exhibits. It’s the perfect spot for an autumnal day out, where no one gets left behind—not even your furry best friend.
Whether it’s strolling along the charming village, soaking up some maritime history in the Buckler’s Hard Museum or even taking a trip on the River Cruise before it ends for the season, your dog can wag their tail in excitement right alongside you. After all, why should humans have all the fun?
We understand that dogs are part of the family, and now they can enjoy the experience just as much as you do.
Take a break and find refreshments at The Captain’s Table, where you can tuck into a tasty lunch or warming hot drink. For those after a fine dining experience, the Master Builder’s House can be found at the bottom of the Highstreet, offering fresh, seasonal food, good quality wines & ales, and good company.
Whilst you’re here stop by The Art of Buckler’s Hard to see original paintings by the winner and semi-finalists of Sky Arts’ Landscape Artist of the Year, as well as artworks from the Montagu family collection and entries from our public competition. It is now open in the Shipyard Office on the High Street, and here until the 3rd November.
Plus, now is the ideal time of year for a riverside walk, so choose from two walking loops with stunning views across the Beaulieu River. This 2¼ mile route starts from Buckler’s Hard and winds through woodland, grassland and salt marsh before ending at the village of Beaulieu.
Visitors can enter Buckler’s Hard for free and explore the historic village. A parking charge applies for those arriving by vehicle, which helps maintain the heritage site. If you wish to explore the Buckler’s Hard Museum or River Cruise, a small admission charge applies.
