The National Motor Museum is part of the Beaulieu Attraction, one of the South of England’s top visitor destinations. The Museum is home to a world-famous collection of over 280 vehicles and motoring memorabilia. From legendary Formula One cars, Land Speed Record-breakers, to incredible examples of pioneering motoring, the varied galleries and displays in the National Motor Museum tell the story of motoring on the roads of Great Britain.
Working as part of the Workshop Team, this rare opportunity involves assisting with a rolling programme of vehicle maintenance and conservation which encompasses veteran, vintage, post-war, classic and modern cars.
You will also be preparing and running vehicles for events, shows and exhibitions; working with the Curatorial Team to move vehicles into position around the Museum site and assisting colleagues in other teams to bring the collection to a wider and more diverse audience.
While the position is primarily based at the National Motor Museum, you may be required travel to shows and events with the collection vehicles. This may involve occasional evening and weekend work – such as the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run, amongst others. As well as a skilled mechanic, we are looking for someone who is eager to engage with our visitors and answer any questions they may have.
The role as Workshop Engineer will require you to be Responsible for the maintenance and repairs of all Museum exhibits and other vehicles as directed. You will work as part of a team ensuring safety procedures are adhered to at all times and that the care and maintenance of the passenger carrying rides is in accordance with the relevant legislation.
