Spring clean as Buckler’s Hard prepares to reopen indoor spaces

The Hon. Mary Montagu-Scott and the team at Buckler’s Hard have given the Maritime Museum a spring clean as they prepare to reopen on Monday 17 May.

The 18th century characters in The New Inn have had their hair cleaned and their faces re-painted as they prepare to greet visitors when the Maritime Museum reopens after lockdown on Monday 17th May 2021.

The New Inn is just one of the historic cottage displays in the Maritime Museum, which allows visitors to see how villagers at Buckler’s Hard would have lived during its shipbuilding heyday.

As well as giving the characters a makeover, the Director of the Maritime Museum and her team also restocked the grain in the inn and spruced up the curtains, ensuring a fresh welcome for visitors.

The outdoor spaces of Buckler’s Hard are now open for visitors to explore and entry to the village is free. For those arriving by car, a parking fee applies, allowing you to park and enjoy the village while helping us to maintain this heritage site.

The indoor spaces, including the Maritime Museum and the River Cruise, will reopen from Monday 17th May.
