Shipwright school blog - completion of the building frame

Another sunny day and the remaining team set to work to finish off the building frame. More relaxed today after the stress of yesterday and a simple task of putting in the rafters, braces and studs.
We put 2014 coins under the studs in the wall plate and under braces joints for prosperity and luck. Apart from running out of 4” nails all went well and the building is truly fantastic.
A million thanks to those involved, especially all who came to give their time in the build and come on the courses, enabling us to make this dream come true. Next stage roof tiles, cladding and windows and then from 2015 a new venture – The Buckler’s Hard Shipwright School run by IBTC Portsmouth to teach traditional boatbuilding.
