Art Competition
Unleash your artistic flare with the Buckler’s Hard Open Art Exhibition.
Calling all artists, amateurs or professionals, applications are now open to submit your painting, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics, or textiles masterpeices to this competition, the winners of which will be displayed in our new The Art of Buckler’s Hard exhibition.
To be considered for selection, the works must showcase Buckler’s Hard.
Entry is free with fantastic prizes up for grabs!

The Competition
Artists are invited to submit entries for the following categories:
- Sailing by
- Where time flows differently
- Step back in history
Winning entries will be displayed within our new The Art of Buckler’s Hard exhibition from mid-June until the 3 November 2024.
How to enter
Want to take part?
All artwork must be submitted via our online application form before 31st May 2024.
Selected works will be on public display from June 14th until 3rd November 2024.
Artists can submit up to two paintings, prints, drawings, sculptures, ceramics or textile masterpieces. The competiton does not include photography. The maximum size of your artwork must be 150cm x 150cm.
Those selected for display will be contacted by 7th June.

Prizes
We are delighted to announce that prizes will be awarded as follows:
The Montagu Award – Announced 21st June
- 1st Place – One night stay in the Master Builder’s House and a three course meal for 2.
- 2nd Place – £100 gift card to spend at New Forest Activities.
- 3rd Place – A family ticket to Beaulieu.
The People’s Award – Chosen by our visitors – Announced 14th September
- 1st Place – An annual parking pass to Bucker’s Hard, a family ticket for the River Cruise and Buckler’s Hard Museum, and £50 to spend in the Captain’s Table.
The Villagers’ award – Selected by people who live and work in the village – Announced 14th September
- 1st Place – Lunch for 2 at the newly opened Henry’s in the Master Builder’s House.

Bringing children to see the exhibition? Let them create their very own masterpiece of the village! All the items they’ll need to get creative, and details of how to enter, can be found inside the exhibition.
Our favourite will win a family ticket to Beaulieu and a ride in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.
